After watching the CNET video today, choose ONE of the stories (Birds take down drones, or Underground cargo) and write about the following:
1. Summarize what was presented.
2. Do you think that the topic that you chose to write about is realistic. Is this something that you think will definitely happen in the future? Why or why not?

ReplyDeletePeople are training Eagles to take down drones when they're flying where they're not supposed to be. i personally think that is a really creative and cool idea. i think it would work and i really see it happening in the future.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a good idea to have an eagle take out the drones. It would cost a lot less than having technological ways to take them out. Also, whoever was controlling the drone would not expect an eagle to take it out and would try to fly away at all.
ReplyDeletei think that the eagle that brings down drones is a really cool, i think it will happen on the future.
ReplyDeleteThe underground cargo story is a item that gets packages to their location but its done underground instead of flying it or it being on a train and getting it shipped.I think this topic is realistic because they've done something like that before like subways underground so i would think they are realistic.I definitely think something like this would happen in the future .
ReplyDeleteEagles have been trained to snatch up any flying drones that are in places they aren't supposed to be. The eagles capture it then take it and drop it off on the ground. I think this is a very good idea. As long as the eagles will not be harmed from anything on the drone, I am all for this idea. I do not know if this is something that is likely to happen because of all the animal rights activists.
ReplyDeleteBirds taking drones out of the sky and having underground cargo to deliver things place to place. I don't think this is realistic because you can't train every bird in the world to do it. The cargo thing isn't realistic because it costs billions of dollars to do it. What's wrong with the way we do things now? They're trying to work harder than they have to. It's complete insanity.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be cool to have a bird swoop down and take a drones. I honestly dont think it would happen in the future though.
ReplyDeleteThere were two topics presented in the video, eagles taking down illegal drones and underground cargo networks. I think the drone hunting eagles will definitely happen because it a cheap way to take care of drones. The other way they could do it is technologically, but that would cost a lot more which could potentially lead to problems in the community. That why I think that the drone hunting eagles are a for sure thing to happen in the future.
ReplyDeleteI think the eagle one is the best. People with drones can spy on secrets and learn things they shouldn't so the eagles protect them by swooping and guarding them. I think it is realistic because it can protect what should be protected. I think this will happen in the future because, I've read about people flying drones over where forest fires are and it distracts the people working on getting rid of the fire. it is distracting and can take on secrets that shouldn't be seen or heard
ReplyDeletei think the eagle one isn't going to work that much. The bird could drop it on someone. Also how will it know if there is a drone around to take down.but the concept of it is really good.I just don't think it will work out that much.A lot of things could go wrong like that the bird attacking something else.
ReplyDeleteBirds taking down drones is a dumb idea to me personally. Why waste our time training these eagles to get drones that are not supposed to be in the air. If drones are going to be being used in our future, they mine as well work and go out when supposed to. Not every invention is perfect but most of technology now a days is pretty near to being perfect. If the drones aren't going out when supposed too, why are we using them at all?
ReplyDeleteI think the eagles. Mostly all of them all well trained. The eagles will get basically anything from the air and take it with. But it will just drop it to the ground. But other then that i just think thats pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteThe story Birds take down drones, an eagle is trained to take a drone from the sky and guard them. The eagles guard the drones until someone comes to collect the drone. I don't think that birds will actually need to take down drones. Even though they had shown a video of it being done, I don't think we have very many drones flying around as of right now. In conclusion, Yes Eagles can take drones down and right now we don't need that but possibly in the future we might and its good for us that we have it if needed.
ReplyDeletei think this idea is idiotic. How much money did they say? The uses of this underground tunnel would be quite profitable but we already have bigger things to worry about. like the schools having budget cuts and roads needing to be fixed and people to be fed. we can use this money for something better other than this ginormous tunnel or training birds how to take drones out of the sky because they are flying somewhere they are not supposed too. it will make great target practice just place trained professionals out there and let them have some fun with their weapons.

ReplyDeleteI think the idea of eagles taking drones out of the sky is a good idea. When an eagle is flying above and sees a drone in a place it does not belong it takes it out of the sky. It then takes it and guards it until someone can come get it from the eagle. I think this is a good idea as long as no bird is injured in the process. We will be using what we have available on this Earth instead of making something new.
ReplyDeletei think that the cargo idea was very good. We as Americans shop a lot online. So if we could get goods and products to the buyer faster i think we would be a lot better of. Also i understand its a lot of money but you must look at it in the long run we are going to keep advancing in technology
ReplyDeleteI like to think about the underground mailing idea. It is a quick and easy way to just send stuff to people when they need it or order it. it will take the items and ship them in an underground monorail system to a pick-up point and you can get it delivered from there or pick it up.
ReplyDeleteI do think this idea will become a reality and I would like to see it happen soon, but i do not think it will happen for another thirty years plus only because of how much the country would have to pay for it.
The Eagle taking down the drone is more realistic. The Eagle can take down the drone versus the underground cargo. You can teach and Eagle quickly and the underground cargo will take time and money to do. The Eagle and the drone would be easier to accomplish and wouldn't really take that much to do and it's more realistic. The eagle and the drone,i think, will actually happen in the future.
ReplyDeleteThe underground cargo sounds like a good idea. but the problem is the money they will spend trying to build and underground tunnel for shipping things.i honestly don't think that this will even happen but if it do it will cost them a fortune. The money that will use to build can be used for something more important. but after all it is a good idea its just not worth all the money they will spend on it.
ReplyDeleteHow cool would it be to have your stuff shipped underground? This idea was presented in the video. How this would work is, they would have a tunnel system, the merchandise would be zoomed to the appropriate location, and a vehicle would transport it to your local past office. I think the idea is realistic, but the price of it is outrageous.
ReplyDeleteI think that the idea of the eagle taking down drones is very good. There would no longer be drones where there not suppose to be. Although there can be some consequences to this idea. One consequence is that as the eagle drops the drone, someone can get hit by the falling object. I think that there is a great possibility of training eagles to do this in the future but they should really consider the negative side to this idea.
ReplyDeleteI think that the underground cargo is dumb. First of all, it is way to much money. The United States is already in debt and they're talking about making a 4 billion project? If they can afford that then we should not be in debt. Also, trains are made to carry cargo so they might as well just build more railroad tracks if that's the case. It was dumb to even think of this idea, and if they go through with it then that's just outrageous.
ReplyDeleteThe underground cargo would be smart but it would cost lots and lots of money it also would take a very long time to finish the whole thing building something from one state to another and its under ground and it has to be huge to carry a cargo then they have to build a whole new railroad for the transportation of the cargo train. but overall it is a great idea but it would take to long to make and finish the underground cargo.
ReplyDeleteThe flying eagle takes down drones from places there not supposed to be near. I think its a good idea because there is plenty of eagles that can be trained to take down the drones. It would cost less to train the drones than to make something technological that would take down the drones. So yes i think its a good idea to train the eagles to take down the drones that are trespassing.
ReplyDeleteThe underground cargo would be ideal in a perfect America; however America doesn't have the money to spare for a project like that. If it was funded by company, then yes we could easily have that, but America doesn't have the funding, nor resources for such an undertaking. Right now we have a perfectly good system called the transcontinental railroad. It may or may not be as fast as the idea proposed, but it has been a fast way to transfer cargo and people from coast to coast for over two centuries and still transports today. Right now we just need to use the resources we have now; it's cheaper and already has been known to work. It may be ideal in the future, but not now.
